CourseDeck ("the app") helps students track courses, assignments, and study time. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it's used.

Data stored on your device and in your iCloud account

Your courses, assignments, and work sessions are stored locally on your device and synced through your private iCloud account (CloudKit) so they're available across your own devices. We do not have access to this data — it stays within your iCloud account, the same as Photos or Notes.

Anonymous account for AI features

To use AI-powered syllabus scanning and natural-language assignment creation, the app creates an anonymous account on our backend (Supabase). This account is a random identifier — it is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID, and is used only to apply free-tier usage limits (e.g. a limited number of syllabus scans).

Syllabus and assignment text

When you use AI-powered syllabus scanning or natural-language assignment entry, the text you submit (e.g. syllabus PDF text, or a typed assignment description) is sent to our backend and processed using Google's Gemini AI model to extract dates, assignments, and course details. This text is processed to generate results for you and is not used to train AI models, sold, or shared with advertisers.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive a transaction identifier and expiration date from Apple to confirm your subscription status — we never see your payment information.

Notifications

Reminder and daily-preview notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notifications to track you.

Website Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our website to collect anonymous traffic and usage data (such as page views, visitor count, and session duration). This helps us understand how visitors interact with our site. This information is anonymous and does not contain personally identifiable information.

What we don't do

• We don't show ads.
• We don't sell data to third parties.
• We don't require you to create an account with your name or email.

Data deletion

Deleting the app removes your local data. Because the AI features use an anonymous account with no personal identifiers attached, there's no separate account to delete — contact us at the email below if you'd like your anonymous usage record removed.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
